Ingredients

  • 1 lb. beef cubes
  • 4 cloves garlic crushed
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. cardamom seeds ground
  • 1 chile crushed
  • 1/2 tsp. caraway seeds ground
  • juice of 1 lime
  • salt to taste
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 2 cups cooked lentils
  • 4 cups cooked rice
  • 1/2 cup coconut puree (purchase in a can)

Instructions

  • Cook meat in water to cover with garlic, cinnamon, chile, cardamom, caraway, lime juice and salt till very tender.
  • Using a fork, flake the meat.
  • Add onions and leave to cool.
  • Combine rice, lentils, coconut puree and meat mixture in a large bowl.
  • Mix well.
  • Add to a casserol and cover. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
