Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 3/4 Tsp. salt
  • 1/4 Tsp. pepper
  • 3 1/2 Cups milk
  • 6 Cups thinly sliced potatoes
  • 1 Cup chopped onion
  • 1 Cup chopped ham (optional)

Instructions

  • Melt butter.
  • Add and blend flour and salt, pepper, and onion.
  • Gradually add milk.
  • Cook until smooth and thick, stirring constantly.
  • Add potatoes and ham.
  • Cover and simmer 7 minutes.
  • Pour into greased dish or roaster.
  • Bake uncovered at 350° until tender, about 35 minutes.
  • They will have a golden brown crust.
