- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 3/4 Tsp. salt
- 1/4 Tsp. pepper
- 3 1/2 Cups milk
- 6 Cups thinly sliced potatoes
- 1 Cup chopped onion
- 1 Cup chopped ham (optional)
- Melt butter.
- Add and blend flour and salt, pepper, and onion.
- Gradually add milk.
- Cook until smooth and thick, stirring constantly.
- Add potatoes and ham.
- Cover and simmer 7 minutes.
- Pour into greased dish or roaster.
- Bake uncovered at 350° until tender, about 35 minutes.
- They will have a golden brown crust.
