Ingredients

  • 2 Packages yeast
  • 1/2 Cup warm water
  • 1 Cup raisins (soaked)
  • 1/4 Cup soft butter
  • 1/4 Cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tsp. salt
  • 1/2 Cup scalded milk or 4 Tbsp. dry milk
  • 1/2 Cup hot water
  • 3 3/4 Cups sifted flour
  • 2 eggs (beaten)

Instructions

  • Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  • In mixing bowl, put raisins, butter, sugar, salt, and milk.
  • Stir until sugar is dissolved.
  • Add yeast mixture to eggs and flour.
  • Stir and work.
  • Cover and let rise.
  • Stir down when doubled in size and shape into 2 loaves.
  • Let rise until loaf shape.
  • Bake at 350° for 50 to 60 minutes.
