Dago Lasagne

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. sweet Italian Sausage
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp. dried basil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 #1 can tomatoes
  • 12 oz. tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup dry red wine
  • 10 oz. lasagne noodles
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cups Ricotta Cheese or Cottage Cheese
  • 2 tbsp. parsley flakes
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 lb. mozzarella cheese thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Brown meat in heavy skillet, spoon off fat.
  • Add garlic, basil, tsp. salt, tomatoes, tomato paste & wine.
  • Simmer uncovered for 30 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Cook lasagne according to package directions; drain.
  • Beat eggs. 
  • Add ricotta & parmesan cheeses, parsley, salt & pepper.
  • Blend well.
  • Layer half the lasagne in a buttered 13 1/2 x 8 3/4 x 2" baking dish.
  • Spread with half the ricotta mixture. 
  • Add half the mozzarella cheese, then half the meat sauce.
  • Repeat. Bake in moderate oven (375°) for 30 min. or until bubbly.
