Ingredients

  • 3/4 Cup shortening
  • 1/4 Tsp. salt
  • 1 Cup sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. molasses
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 2 Cups flour
  • 3 Tsp. soda
  • 1 Tsp. ginger
  • 1 Tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 Tsp. cloves

Instructions

  • Mix ingredients in order given; then roll dough into balls about the size of a walnut.
  • Roll each ball in granulated sugar and place on cookie sheet. (Cookies flatten out as they bake.)
  • Bake in a 300° oven, 12-15 minutes.
