Ingredients

Let stand 24 hours. Drain and rinse. Soak 3 hours in cold water. Drain well.

  • 2 Gallons cucumbers
  • 2 Cups lime
  • 8 1/2 Quarts water

In a large kettle mix the following:

  • 1 Bottle red food color
  • 1 Tbsp. alum
  • 1 Cup vinegar
  • Water to cover cucumbers

SYRUP:

  • 2 Cups vinegar
  • 2 Cups water
  • 10 Cups sugar
  • 1 Pkg. cinnamon candies or red hots

Instructions

  • Pour hot over cucumbers overnight.
  • Repeat 3 days.
  • On third day pack in jars.
  • Pour hot syrup over and seal.
