Carolyn’s Caramel Corn

  • 2 Cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 Cup white syrup
  • 1/2 Pound butter
  • 1/8 Tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 Tsp. soda
  • 5 Quarts popped corn


  • Combine sugar, syrup, butter, and cream of tartar.
  • Boil rapidly for 5 minutes; remove from heat.
  • Add the soda and stir well.
  • Will foam up and get lighter in color.
  • Pour over popped corn.
  • Mix well and bake at 250° for 1 hour stirring every 15 minutes.
