Buttermilk Sheet Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Pound butter
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 Cup water
  • 2 Cups sugar
  • 2 Cups sifted flour
  • 1 Tsp. soda
  • 1/2 Tsp. salt
  • 1/2 Cup buttermilk
  • 2 slightly beaten eggs
  • 1 Tsp. vanilla

ICING:

  • 1 stick oleo
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 6 Tbsp. buttermilk

Instructions

  • Bring to a hard boil: 1/2 pound butter, 4 tbsp. cocoa, and 1 cup water.
  • Remove from fire and pour over the following: 2 cups sugar, 2 cups sifted flour, 1 tsp. soda, and 1/2 tsp. sail.
  • Beat until smooth.
  • Add 1/2 cup buttermilk, 2 slightly beaten eggs, and 1 tsp. vanilla.
  • Beat well.
  • Grease and flour a cookie sheet which is about 1-inch deep.
  • Bake 20 minutes at 350°.
