- 3 Cups sugar
- 1 Cup white syrup
- 1/2 Cup water
- 1 Tsp. red coloring
- 1 Tsp. anise extract or a few drops anise oil
- Boil to hard crack.
- Add red coloring and anise oil last.
- Do not stir.
- Pour in an ungreased pan or cookie sheet.
- Let harden and break into pieces.
- Be sure candy has reached the hard crack stage or it will not be brittle enough.
- When candy is done it will crack when you test it in cold water.
